Dougfish

I was trying to take a buddy to stream Y, but we could not get our plans to jive. One day we will make it happen.
I really wanted to get back in there before all the rains stopped. And I had never hit true dry fly action there. I mentioned it to Jacob and he perked right up. After a little pleading of the case at home, we had the green lights. One potential problem. The forecast called for 90% chance of thunderstorms and up to .9" of said storms. Fingers crossed, rain jackets packed. Up early and gone.

We got into fish pretty quick like. Mostly on the dropper though.

I was staying hung up, tangled and out of sorts.
Then things really went sideways.

I noticed my big dry fly box was missing. It had fallen out of the not completely zippered pouch on the pack.
b'; b'; b'; b'; b';
After a quick backtrack of dry land I had covered and looking at eddys for a hundred yards, I said fuk it.
Waterproof box. About $400ish worth of flies.  b';  n!n
Name and phone number is on it.
I'll never see it again.  n!n
I'll also never carry a box with so much in it again. Fuk me.

Caught back up to the jackrabbit.

The fish were not super plentiful, but the were stout. Well fed. Then some big mayflies started coming by. Part of the food source.

Besides these size 10's, big sulfurs, march browns and size 6 stoneflies buzzed us.
I caught the tail gunner at a very promising log jam and J said to catch the master of the palace. So I did.

Blue skies. Thunder rumbling nearby. No rain.  :o
We'll be back.

As Doug said, I talked my way into joining him Sunday.  Had to wear a troll shirt at my kids 3 year old birthday party as part of the negotiations.  Fishing was hot then cold then hot.  Dry fly action really picked up from 2 to 4.  Dodged a lot of rain and sun stayed out most of the day.  Doug caught the big fish.  I caught a lot of fun sized fish.  Good day. Every fish was fat and sassy.

Bird ID?

Not a bad outing for what will probably be my last brookie trip until fall
unless the rain and cool temps continue. V:;

How'd you break the net Jacob?

I've had success fixing a break one of my older ones.  I'd recommend the brown gorilla glue and apply per directions:

https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-50002-Original-Glue-Brown/dp/B0000DD5EN/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1528903983&sr=8-9&keywords=gorilla+glue

It does expand so you can wipe it as it expands but I'd just let it do it's thing and then come back later once it is cured and trim the excess with an xacto knife.  Be sure you keep it clamped or otherwise held together until the bond cures based on the directions.

I fell on it.  Didn't notice it until I netted my last fish before hiking out.  You think the gorilla glue will be better than just some wood glue?

Yeah, I do.  Especially on a jagged joint.

I can confirm gorilla glue it better on a net than wood glue.

Broke mine and tried wood glue. It didn't last one trip.

The gorilla is holding well.
