Hit the trail Friday around 4:30 for a quick warm up for Saturday.

But first, beer:

Because I knew the hike in was going to be brutal:

At least the scenery was nice:

Worked hard for a couple of fish.  Probably only hit a mile of water.

But it was pretty water:

No fish pics from Friday, because I really only caught a couple of dink cockroaches.

Hiked back in the dark, tripping over rhodo roots and got back in the car a little after 9pm.

Hit a Mexican joint for refreshment and nourishment.

Saturday started early, because we hoped to fish 2-3 miles of water and find the trail to avoid backtracking.  Started good:

Lunchtime under the beech trees:

with a visitor:

Started the afternoon off a little different:

That is a size 6 or 8 green WB and the only fly I hooked fish on all day.

Matt was taking pictures throughout the day, unbeknownst to me:

Including my big fish hookup:

and ensuing disappointment - note the fly line stuck in the tree above my head:

That was a big brown that came unbuttoned.

Shortly thereafter, we came upon the unpassable pool - 200' long, 75' wide with cliffs on either side.  It was 4:30 and we weren't really interested in bushwacking our way around.

We started back downriver and I watched him take a tumble ending up soaked from head down.

About 5 minutes later, it was my turn, but I landed hard on a rock on my right hip.  Big nasty bruise.

Found a wooded trail:

And the best fried chicken I've ever tasted:
