A stream has been haunting me. Just two big fish. Burned into my brain. All winter. So far this frustrating spring. Now that spring has slipped to summer, I had to make a move.Wife is away on bidness. Nobody riding shotgun.Fuck it. On the road at 4:45. This song comes across on the shuffle. How appropriate. Give it a listen.Long ride, new river access to try out. Can I get to the first demon hole? Or the second?Dodged some deer and scooted in before too many locals were moving.

Lots of nettle.

Some stray sulfurs and these drakes? were coming off. Not many risers, though.CDC/Elk/Foam got 80%. Dropper got the rest. Big fish were blowing up the dry.Blow. Ing. Up.
I had brought my bigger net. Because of the demon fish possibility.Well, I forgot. The less than 10" fish slip right through the bottom gaps.A few stayed long enough for pics.
Laurel. In white and pink.
Thyme Leaf Bluets and Goats beard.
So I did not get near as far as planned. The trail sucked. The distance was greater than anticipated. The big bad demon fish that haunted me will wait. If they are still there. Much scheming will ensue. But I fished great water. Better than I was expecting. And I got a big boy.Third fish of the day. 14" of wildness. He came out of the water after hitting the dry. That might be the first time I've played a brookie.

I did not get other good pics of the bad boy. Flubbed a few. Had to rush to get him back into the water after he had wrapped up in the tippet and dropper.Had to cut the line in a couple of places. And I had no wingman!

Damn. Whopper brookies. You da man, Doug.
<Phil drooling at the size of those fish>
You've clearly found a very special place, and I'd sure hell keep yer whereabouts to yourself.
TRs such as this is the reason why I frequent this place, and they've been rather scarce lately. Thanks for taking us for a ride to a place that most of us will never have time to visit.
He better keep his mouth shut about that place. Especially what we stumbled upon looking at the maps.
Glad one of us finally checked that out.
Oh no you didn't!! Well done.
Wow....now that is a TR. Not sure I would even tell my mother the location of that stream.
Thanks boys and girls.
I only extended invites to two of the five amigos who have accompanied me there. (And two unofficial standby passengers.)No takers on my last minute trip. Everybody is sorta sworn to secrecy, btw. (Even though others here know, but are tight lipped. bd;0 )
That list of possible campers has grown. Only those that can, and will put in the work can do this one.I'm still tired and sore, today. But as Robbie Frost said, I have miles to go before I sleep. -0-
Hell yea man. That's a brute, hope you get back soon 0:0
Great report! Nice pictures. Big brookies for sure.
Finally reaching a place like that is an excellent feeling. Nice work.
- Thanks for the invite. :banana072:
Hell. Yes. That'll work right there. y;
That's a damn good trip!!
Honest work right there.
