bd;0 'c; bd;0 'c; bd;0 'c;  I expect you will be selling your trout gear and tossing whole chickens from now on  :o

Jfey

Yup, going fishing

Big J

What a motley crew going down that river. Congrats on the musky.

troutfanatic

Meh.

Beginner's luck.  I have caught em before by accident. One on gear many many, many years ago. Another on a bugger whilst fishing for smallmouth. Both under 2'. This is the first one I got deliberately targeting them. I only have 3 days of fishing for them  under my belt.

I had a goal to get one before I start PA school. It happened sooner than I thought, so maybe I try for an allegheny river monster this summer.

Woolly Bugger

2019 – 12

Troutfanatic said that he was planning of a musky trip with Drifts and there was a seat open. So I agreed to join them on a Saturday adventure.

We planned to meet at the Huddle house and ride the next two hours together meeting Drifts at the take-out on the James.

We were about 15 minutes early, but I told TF not to worry as the Drifts is usually early and there he was getting the boat ready as we pulled into the lot.

At the launch, I noticed that the "mechanic's" car has a check engine light on.... Jis say'in

We also spotted a pair of juvenile bald eagles along the way.

Cast, strip, figure 8, repeat.

And then TF had a follow and got him chasing after the fly as he worked the rod around and around, but then it was gone. Drifts rowed us back and filled with anticipating we floated through that spot again. Boom the fish hit TF's fly!

After that we stuck TF on the sticks and continued on till the end of the day without seeing another fish.

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

troutfanatic

Glad you didn't show me on them sticks.

Well it should be prime time here in the greater Cumberland River drainage to be putting fish in the boat, but to be honest it's been pretty slow, even moving fish, let alone boating one.

ARontheFly and I tried last week. Got started early, on a nice chilly morning.

Wasn't the easiest trip up river, but we were prepared.

Was lunch by the time we got where we were headed.
Some of the water looked pretty good.
