Managed to weasel my way out of going to my inlaws family reunion down in TN and I am a free man this weekend.  Normally in Mid July brook trout fishing wouldn't even of been an option in VA, but with the abnormally amount of rain and it staying relatively cool, I called up Mudwall.  The stream has changed a little according to him due to the storms that caused all the flooding in WV and fishing was slower than the previous times I have fished.  Interesting to see what a good gully washer can do to a stream.  It wiped out a lot of pools and spread the stream out a good bit.  Fish were had though and it was a good time as always.  Even got coerced into eating my first wild brookie.  Another alarming thing is the amount of rainbows that are appearing in this stream.  They all got a swift bonk to the head and a few made their way to the grill as well.

Mudwall going over one of the most rickety bridges I have been on in a long time.  The truck was bobbing up and down by a foot.

Then the skies unleashed after Mudwall missed a fish in the run pictured a couple time.

After the rain stopped he worked the pool some more switching flies a few times with no luck.  First cast nail this brookie.  Second cast land a bow.  SWITCH TO FLOURO YOU OLD MAN.

You will have to pay dearly one day for skipping out on the reunion. :banana072:

J, which fish tasted better, rainbow or brook?

I thought the rainbow trout tasted better. Something about the taste of nativeness didn't set well with me.

Psychology bet if it was a double blind test you would be hard pressed to tell the difference /'/
