They don't make them like that any more. All that generation that invented bluegrass is gone now-Bill and Charlie Monroe, Don Reno, Flatt and Scruggs, Ralph and Carter Stanley, and the rest. RIP, Doctor Ralph.

There have been very few people with as real and powerful of a voice as Ralph, not to mention his banjo playing and songwriting that went straight to the heart.

I heard an NPR interview with him a couple years ago and he self described his voice as a "lonesome voice"
