Still a little early here for the big bloom. Trout lily, toothwort, spring beauties, and bloodroot are starting to fade. Beginning to see some Trillium luteum and Trillium rugelii, wild geranium, foamflower, violets, and a few other things. In another week or two it will be on. No morels here quite yet, it's usually about the last two weeks of April here for them. Been checking my spots, but nothing yet. The ramps are a little late this year too, just now getting up to digging size.

Along the Allegheny Front it has been a bit chilly, with multiple heavy frosts and snow last weekend.  Does that push back the blooming?

I have seen a few of these on the few warm, bluebird days that we've had this year.

As I try to post this I realize why I don't do more reports.  I know I'm a dunce but this makes try number three.  They say third time's a charm so here goes...No time for fishin' but I have been checking out the wildflowers and working in the garden quite a bit.  Most of the ornamental trees in my garden, jap maples, magnolias, other exotics got nipped by last weeks freezing temperatures; the wildflowers however are looking good.

Now you see me, now you don't.  Sorry.  The perfectionist in me took hold and made me do it.  I had a couple of pictures that inexplicably kept posting oriented horizontally instead of vertically as intended.  Not sure why because they appeared to be oriented correctly prior to posting.

Yellowroot eh?  Ran across some of that stuff @ Doughton Park recently.  Had no idea being it was the first time ever encountering or perhaps noticing this variety.

There are some rather unusual plants growing along the banks of the Yadkin.  I suspect some of the specimens are nothing more than 100 year old domesticated varieties that have naturalized.  One has a flower that resembles a honeysuckle flower both in shape and color.

Here's some flowering weed shit that's running rampant around the house. Shows my lack of manicuring the landscaping. What is this shit?
