Al

I was out to the JEPFEC (Lake Rim) helping them with some school kids who are doing field trips at the catfish ponds for past two days. As soon as the kids leave at about 1pm I have been breaking out an old flyrod and having a blast catching some nice catfish on a nymph hung under a bass size popping bug. Yesterday I caught two that would go about 10 pounds - did not have a camera. Today the fish were not too active for the kids who were fishing with worms but they sure turned on for me with that flyrod. I brought my camera this time - here is photo of the largest - Probably 5-6 pounds.

I know these are captive fish but I'm betting that anyone who has a farm pond with a good population of catfish can have good success if they try the fly rod with popper and dropper in a similar fashion. Hook a nice one and they put up a very good fight.

Woolly Bugger

now that sounds like a lot of fun AL!

ex - I'm not going to live with you through one more fishing season!
