I was listening to NPR "Technology Monday" and the report was on the development of fuel cells for use by the military instead of relying on batteries for power. The patrols are burdened with having to carry hundreds of pounds of batteries and methanol fuel cells can cut the weight by at least 1/2. Laptop manufacturers have been looking at fuel cell options since 2002, but many legal bottlenecks have kept them from the market place.

Searching for fuel cells I came across this neat little "protable" battery charger http://www.fuelcellstore.com/cgi-bin/fuelweb/view=Item/cat=7/product=679 for the low low price of $4,893.00 Someone need to get one for the next PFF!

Here is the link to the NPR story....
