Anybody know George Lichty?

I don't get it.  I had to search deez nutz, and what does the "Grin and Bear It" cartoonist have to do with it.  Is this a hipster thing?  Do I need to ride a mountain bike, wear Howler Bros, and drink fancy beer like Bully to understand?  Or am I out of luck, too old, too pop culture challenged, too dumb to comprehend?
