Iris cristata.  I grow several different color forms; it's a good one for the home garden.

I'm not sure if it's big enough to deter a bear, but I can at least take myself out of my own fucking misery if I am getting mauled by one.

Nothing like a good R&R to break away from the daily grind. Not sure I would have had the courage to keep walking by the bear. :)
