Things started out somewhat slow, if not on the wrong foot - waiting on a kid's basketball game to finish, ***having*** to pressure wash the boat, change the fuel filter, fire up the motor, etc. but at least the brew was good

And while it did delay us from getting on the water, we at least made good use of the trip to nowhere

The hotel was dingy, dirty, and the first room still had the previous tenants leftover foodstuff in the fridge.

We moved and promptly dug into this

The morning started off a little hazy

and then turned beautiful

and then we had PP problems . . .
(my less than affectionate name for his bote - "Pier Pressure", which seems quite appropriate given how much of a pisser it is every time we go out)
and lost an hour and a half on a rising tide

after which time the weather had turned to

along with about a 2' chop in the bay about 30 minutes later . . .

So we headed in for some fried chicken, which got devoured before pictures could be obtained, but snapped a pic of the reason why we can/can't have nice things

Got back to the water and took to exploring with no joy

Finally got to high tide and headed up a couple of creeks

bait were running, gulls were diving, and we saw one fish - just off the bow after making a 40' cast to a concentric circle from some unknown creature

Finally called it a day and determined to set up a trip in November someplace

Riding around on a boat drinking beer and eating fried chicken is never a bad way to spend some time.

I had a similar weekend 2 weeks ago, except with two spoilt rich boys. Saw a school of Menhaden the size of a basketball court and in the mix were red drum the size of VW beetles. Twat one says to twat two "is this guy crazy? Why is he casting to those bulls?" Two two says to twat one, "I think he may be onto something" ::)
Anyhow, they are on my do not call list, not because they are rich boys, but because they are collectively the two biggest tossers outside of the select asshats from VA I have ever met. p;-
