My guess is family Yponomeutidae, Genus Atteva, Species Atteva aurea

Common name = Ailanthus Web worm Moth

It's a moth (non-aquatic).  Atteva aurea, I believe.

5.   Playing golf in high school, and not football or baseball (golf is a minuscule step above being a high school male cheerleader, and ranks well below being in the band or on the debate team)

No worries, it wasn't meant to be a set-up.  I actually found it floating in a back-eddy along with some small mayflies and I didn't recognize it.  I didn't know if it was land-based, aquatic, or what.  So, I took some photos and thought I'd throw it up here for a bug ID.
