I've been fishing the greenbriar area of the park a bunch lately.
Mostly because I can be from house to trail in 55 minutes.
But also because its one of my favorite places in the park.

AL trout bum

Nicely done! I would like to try that area. I'm assuming you're talking about GSMNP? It's been on my list for a while, but I have a few others that I tend to always fish. I like the sure thing better than an exploration given how rare trips up there are for me.

Nice to see the Park put out. Well played CE

Photos were beautiful to look at. I wish I was there (I have had dreams of going all the way up Ramsay Prong to the springs of Mount Guyot - one day.......). I see the tellico nymph earned its stripes once again - damn I love that pattern (all year round).

I was born by the river in a little tent,
And just like the river I've been running ever since,
It's been a long, long time coming,
But I know change is gonna come.

All good chit.

Those rocks look like they are a bitch for wading. I fished a stream over that way once and took a hard fall, almost broke my wrist and rod in one fell swoop.

ATB: Its really no better than any other area of the park. I just like the area because of the big trees & bigger boulders.
TW: You know I love a pune. Especially a park pune.
Dude: I dig the Tellico as well. I always give it a shot. That manway above the falls is a brutal beast.
BB: There were a few times, climbing up waterfalls by myself, that I thought I am about to die and nobody is going to find my body.

Also, saw a bear yesterday. A little too close for comfort (~30ft) and definitely wasn't scared of us.
And on the way in, while making a deposit in the pit toilet, saw a spider that could have eaten that bear. My friend questioned if it was even real. Its footprint on the wall was about 4" diameter. Didn't feel like trying to snap a photo in a festering dump house, but the closest reasonable thing I can find online is a huntsman spider.

Nicely done! 'c;

That does look like some interesting wading.

I actually made a little rock stock stack and next to it, in rocks, spelled out "hi doug".

Accidentally deleted the photo when I was making space on my memory card. b';

I wanna know more about these "big trees."

Killer all-around by-the-way.

My real name is Chad Farthouse.

Onslow

What a spectacular stream. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Parts of the upper reaches avoided logging.
The lower sections of the gorge were logged early, but the efforts were abandoned in some places, due to the tedious nature of getting logs out of such a rugged area.
Anything below the gorge was clear cut like the majority of the park.
Pretty good tell all about the logging of the park in Margaret Brown's "The Wild East" if you're interested in that sort of thing.

creekfreak

very nice pics! Can't go wrong with the Tellico or the Parkway Get Bent

Guinness! Good God!

Stone-Man

Damn nice report -- good flicks also

One of the ten commandments for fishing is ------------ Thou shalt not fish E Tenn. without a Tellico in thy fly box.
