Hi, guys and gals. I am Mike from Floyd, va. I am getting back into flyfishing after a few years of kids, work, and school keeping me away. I know at least one of you on here. I used to fish with natureboy a ton back at tech. I have been going down to the smith at least once a week for the last month or so. I am also fishing the little river in Floyd a bit. Well,I figured I would say hey.

Al

Well hell if no one else will say welcome, I will.

If you fish the Smith ya can't be all that bad.  Come on down and introduce yourself when we have a river clean up on Saturday, July 19th. We will be posting details about it shortly.

C'mon dude. We're practically neighbors. Throw together a proper intro as the others suggest.
Don't make me come down there and smack you.  ;D

natureboy

Dammit Mike, SOP here is that you are assumed to be a moron until you prove otherwise.  Read some of the better intros, then give it another swing.

From the '06-'07 archives. Here are a few things I know about this guy.

Often confused when presented with promising water.

Some highlights from our early adventures:

Camping out in the middle of the Hidden Valley section on the Jackson, after a hike in and evening of fishing, we cooked up a smallmouth over the coals, then polished off the bottle of jack, then thought it was a good idea to hike out (about 2 miles) and go on a beer run (at least a 20 minute drive).  I think we ended up with a 12 pack of Keystone, some hotdogs and squeeze cheese, and completely exhausted.  The next day was one of the best catching days that I remember.

We also had a couple epic adventures into the Cranberry Backcountry.  Night hiking, in the rain, no maps, only to find out that me missed the actual trail by about 10 yards, which added several miles to our trek.  The next day we caught one fish each before we had to turn and hike back to the trailhead...  My one fish was a 3" brook trout.  Starving, we had dinner at the Lumberjack in Richwood, which made Wrong Turn look like a Nat Geo documentary.

To be 22 again... Good times.   0:0

Haha, great read Jay Dub.  'c;
Sounds like a story I could pull from the anals of Harrisonburg days of fishing with that sketchy Cowboy Jesse. Ah, the days were filled with brookies and nights filled with JMU slappers and jungle juice in 30gal coolers...
Welcome Migray, but like former colleagues have stressed...tits/fish/ass or GTFO

I only fished with Jesse when he was a vagrant cowpoke, I think you got the better end of that deal.

I think it makes it worse when someone else posts up pics of you fishing in your own intro.

C'mon Migray, we are really setting this one on a tee for you.

Migray

God damn, it is rough around here. It's cool. I will post pics. I will gain your trust. Yes, I will take your sisters number. Then I will bait fish the shit out of your honey holes. Okay, that was a littler gayer than I intended and maybe a bit overboard but it'll work. I got it. PICS! I can't use pics that are years old. I have to go get some new ones. Thanks natureboy for vouching for me bud. I'll do a sweet post with pics of pretty water and platitudes of my connection to mother nature or some shit. You dudes will love it. I choose tits with pike as my first contribution to the board! [attach=1 align=left width=400][attach=2 align=left width=400]

So far so good.....

No it is not!  I hate large arbor reels, bright lines, and fighting butts; the toothy critter is OK.

I am enthusiastically waiting for the "platitudes" of your "connection to mother nature".

Welcome.

If you ever need a float buddy/shuttle monkey, I'll be happy to join ya for a bass float.

I'd like a pike hunt. With her.

Yes, yes, yes. You're in, now close the fucking door.
