I have always wanted to float Eagle Rock to Big Bend on the James.  It is supposed be a very scenic stretch of the river.  We put in at Eagle rock with Murphy Brown and co.  and planned to ride a bike back to the put in point and pick up the SUV/trailer (about a 7.5 mile ride).  Jarry the other floater, assured me it would only take about 45 minutes of pedaling.  The scenery on this stretch is very nice.

But there were many flat sections that took a lot of rowing.

We caught some of these..

saw this floating in the water

I always have a soft spot in my heart for fall fish and rock bass.  I don't know why.

Always amazes me how people build this stuff back in the day.

I rekon these days that could never get built.

Anyway, all in all it was a long pull for not many fish.  We saw no fish rising and had to dredge up the ones we caught from the deep.  We rolled into my house @ 9:15 and saw a deer in my garden eating every bit of it.  Damn things.
