I figured I would start a new thread for boat projects..Feel free to add to it..

here's the latest from my hood..I was gonna have a poling platform built, but figured that I could build a rear bench seat to put my yeti on top of and it will get me to the same height for much cheaper..

I started with my measured plywood pieces for the top, front, and back..I drew some lines.

Before I started cutting I made sure to get a beer.

Although tedious, the cutting went well..

Also hit the screw holes with bondo..A little more sanding and it'll be ready to go to paint.  /'/

That's some nice work.  Can't wait to see it installed.  'c;

I like those break-down sawhorse you got there too.  I made a pair a couple of years ago myself.

Nice work, Buddy.  But, it pained me to see that hardwood floor getting abused.
I was born by the river in a little tent, And just like the river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, But I know change is gonna come.

yeah, That's the floor in a house that I have now been re-modeling for my folks for going on 4 years now..As my dad likes to say "We're three and a half years into a 6 month remodel." Well, we are almost done now, and that floor will be sanded and refinished within the next couple months..I would never do that to a nice hardwood floor..

It's a Carolina skiff j12..Tiny little thing..This will let me put the yeti on top of the bench seat as a poling platform..

I was thinking the same thing... What kind of kick-ass work shop do you have.  natural light and hardwood floors :D

So...i sold my bote to Bent a couple months ago to buy the raft....which has seen the water maybe 3 times. Anyway, I figured i was done with motored craft for a while since i live a ways from navigable waters and have no time to fish as is, and that will only become less and less and less. But, the bote bug is deep and permanent, so i dusted off an old outboard i had stuffed into the far recesses of my shed, then moved it a couple hundred miles, then stuffed into the far recesses of the barn. It's a 1966 Johnson 20 horse, and yes, i got fucked when i bought it. It was my own fault for not knowing enough about outboards, but I got fucked nonetheless. Anyhooo.....I gave up on finding parts years ago. Johnson/Evinrude merged in '71, so that's as far back as most parts catalogs go. I broke the idle speed jet/rod/thingee 'tuning it up', and gave up the search after a few diligent weeks of searching. I've learned a shitload about outboards since then, and apparently I'm more experienced with the internet as well. Found the part, tuned her up(for real this time), cranked about 6,000 times and she farted back to life. It still needs some minor tuning, but running it at full speed would probably do the same, and it would be more fun for me. Now, I have to find a boat. She's begging for a beater tin can with beer cans rolling around in the floor and carp slime as cologne. Thought I found it...I did not. The search continues.

Found another broken part that I didn't have to pay $10 shipping to replace. The starter had this plastic nubby that transfers all the power from the rope to the flywheel. It's amazing it lasted 40+ years.

A little piece of aluminum, a drill press, and scroll saw and it's better than new.

Can't wait to add to this thread more. It's doubtful I'll even be able to get a boat out very often, but I like projects.....bote projects. The chicken coop still isn't finished.
It's all shit, piss and bliss.

Necessary fabrication brings out the best in a man.

And that last pic made me laugh my ass off and brought a tear to my eye at the same time.

Continue documenting your life, pics and words both, write them down and put them in a book.   Id read it and pay good money for it.
