I thought I was going to be doing the Rottweiler thing but the bastard never got off it's lazy ass. Just barking. All mouth.

Some bald dude was watering his flowers and I talked to him. Polite fella. Let me park in his grass. Much obliged.

Intro done and I deserve what I get.

Went up to the Smith yesterday to learn and explore. It was my first time and my dad was tagging along. He had a tough time moving around in the water and was worried about falling over (claims he is too old for this). He did alright with the casting but seeing as I wasn't catching anything new he decided to call it quits early, enjoy the scenery and nap in the car.

Started off up top and got skunked, but really enjoyed to the beauty of the river. Never seen such clear still water in a river.

Plenty of fog too to complicate things.

I missed one about 20 inches that broke me off but at least I have a reason to go back.
Some tough fishing and some cold ass water.

Rain hit so we cut the day off a bit early
Probably needed to get home anyway.

Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

Victory!

How'd your dad like the rod?

He found it pretty easy to cast. Real test will be what the father in law thinks since it's his now. Hope to take him up there in a few weeks when I get back from Seattle.

Hope to post some pictures of Steelhead and King Salmon soon!

I headed back to the river this morning with hopes that the rain we received at home last night hadn't screwed the river up in VA. It looked as if rain had taken place but all was well.

Got into quite a few browns and a couple bows and seen a few nice sucker fish. As always, I lost far more than I landed. I don't know what I've changed to bring this on.

I left right before a hellacious rain arrived. Glad to have gotten out today.

Bet so. I thought the damned thing was going to take my head off before it put the brakes on.

After a lazy Sunday morning I headed over to the Weatherspoon to revisit Tom Burckhardt: FULL STOP art installation... and create a Microsoft Photosynth "Walk" Check it out!

After lunch I headed up the road to the river and after waiting out a thunderstorm I hit water. Sulfurs were a popping and fish were rising. I caught a dozen or more before the next storm blew me off the river. I forgot my "powder" and the fish would only hit a "high floating" fly, so I was constantly changing out flies as once they were slimed and dunked they had no appeal to  the trouts....

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!
