Stepping outside yesterday morning was like taking in that first breath of spring. Even though people are bitching about how cold it is and how they hate all the rain i cant help but to laugh. Back home my dad is digging his car out of 2 ft of snow still, so ill take 45 degrees allllllll day. being as warm as it was i decided to go hit up the tailwater. just recently i finally took my buddies advice and started hitting the river low where the real fish are, and hot dayum was i glad i did. the first fish was a dink, but nicely colored up no less.....

The water was green with all the rain and about 15 inches of vis. the fish were biting throughout the whole day, not every pile of brush produced bites but i was happy with the amount of fish i saw. about halfway through the day i got to my buddies "legendary" honey hole where he claims to have caught 20 inch browns all the time. Ive fished it now a total of 3 times and well i guess the saying holds true about the third time cause.....money

i swung my way down this stretch and right around halfway down got a thump. i looked over towards the bank and saw 25 inches of brown smack my streamer like a redhead stepchild. i strip set the hook and about 3 seconds into it he was gone.

i rested the spot for about half an hour, tried again and nothing. after that i decided to pull out and head home. walking the trail back out i snapped a picture of this...some kind of voodoo i'm guessing

it was a good outing overall, and missing that big one may have been a good thing i realize. i mean hell if i catch the big one every time, what would keep me coming back. so with that said until next time all......
