Night time Ladyfish
« on: July 30, 2010, 09:53:45 AM »
Other than when being able to luck out with an early morning moon tide, the drum fishing has been hampered by the extreme heat lately.
Thursday evening while at a neighbors house, we walked back toward his dock and could see baitfish flicking under the lights. I happened to have a fly rod and box of flies handy on my golf cart and for the next two hours we took turns battling Ladyfish until we tired of it. Hadn't caught them before, but will be back after them for sure. A very pleasant surprise.

There's a big difference between a dry fly dancing through
a riffle and a weighted fur ball dragging on the bottom.

The few ladyfish I caught when I was in Florida last winter were a blast!  They seem to spend more time out of the water than in it when hooked!
