Jackson Hole Guides?
« on: April 08, 2010, 15:16:46 PM »
My father-in-law is going to be taking me and the new wife out to Jackson Hole for a week during the middle of August this year.  Yeah, I know lucky me...  He's just starting to dip into the whole fly fishing thing a little and wants to go on a float trip while we are out there.  Was wondering if any of you guys could reccomend a guide that you have had personal experience with or some kind of reccomendation?  I am guessing that we will most likely be floating the Snake, but I am up for any other suggestions.  I would like to pick someone who is fairly good with beginners and can provide equipment as I know my father-in-law will most likely have a tough time tossing hoppers up next to the bank and probably a tough time with casting in general.  I have taken the time to teach him the basics, even snapped the tip off my 5 wgt that I rarely use, but that only goes so far when you are trying to target trouts.

Thanks!

There's a big difference between a dry fly dancing through
a riffle and a weighted fur ball dragging on the bottom.

Appreciate it John.  I'll give him a look...

Going there in July. One of the days I booked a trip with Snake River Angler and reserved the day with Boots Allen. He's a third generation guide out there. He put out a book this year and you can get this off amazon or barnes and noble. That way you can learn some about the rivers/fishing out there. If anything else, it would be a great conversation piece. Also doing an overnight deal with Worldcast Anglers on the Snake. first time that far west for me, so I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. Hope this helps!
