So the trout season had to start sooner than later as the warm water feeshes around Raleigh are still hunkering down very low, plus at the rate bars are opening around my neighborhood with their unbeatable beer specials, it's kinda hard to find sobreity to make it to the western part of our wonderful state! Here are a few pix from a gorgeous day in the mountains a few days ago, some randoms, just plain 'ol glorious late winter weather and eager fish. I got a major skunk on the wild creek, I'll be back later this month, hopefully I don't stumble on no more bear feastings etc. Scary stuff :o

Diaz....I don't think black bears are meat eaters by nature....more likely a pack of canines or even a big cat. Anyway thanks for sharing....I'm waiting for those warm water fish to start moving here in the next couple of weeks.  ;hb

I got a major skunk on the wild creek,

Same for me last weekend on a SC wild stream. I had 3 rises to a Quill Gordon, but none to hand.  I was thinkin it was warm enough at the lower elevs, but not quite yet.  Still, it was a good hike and I didn't see anyone all day, most days that's enough for me.
Beer, the cause of and solution to all life's problems.

Overbrook, maybe it was the legendary Mountain Lion??!! Just lookin at the way the bones were cleaned off was kinda freaky that whodunit has some serious munchies!!! That creek has many a cave for a largish animal to live in...
