The House just voted against the "bailout"
« on: September 29, 2008, 13:59:24 PM »
Didn't think that would happen.  The market went from down 200 to down 700 points.  It seems to be coming back a bit now.  Seems there is still time for people to get their arms twisted and change their minds.  But, neither side had a consensus of opinion.  Looks to be another interesting day in US politics.

How do you bring that resolution to a vote with out knowing if it will pass or not?

I for one am glad it didn't pass, and I hope it never passes.
We are a free market economy, and it should stay that way, let the chips fall where the may.

I did however have to laugh at Pelosi's leadership here. She is now officially the dumbest cunt I have ever seen. She gave a bush bashing speech before the vote???????

WTF did she think was going to happen?

CUNT!  Can't Understand Normal Thinking.......LOL

No wonder congress has the lowest approval rating in this countries history  17% and dropping....LOL

Boys, we were all fucked!   o-o  Every Democrat, every Republican, and every Independent.  Pelosi is an idiot with out a doubt.  And the Republicans sure showed her didn't they (refer to my first two sentences).  God help us, with "leaders like this, acting like a bunch of spoiled children...

"Tommy is a mean and bad person and everybody should always remember that"  :-X "Suzie called me a bad name so I just won't play with her any more  :'(  (I would insert the noise that you make when you stick your tongue out at someone and blow, but my typing skills fail me!)

Is there no one in Washington who has a clue?  And this is just the beginning.  Futures are already indicating a further sell off tomorrow.  And that is before the Eastern Markets open, where there will be a major crash.  And this is before there are significant freezes in the US Banking system.  There are not many more "white knights" out there to buy these crappy banks with the whole system frozen, which it will be.

We will probably get through this, but to blame this on either party is a mistake.  They both deserve to be thrown out and let us start over again.

Holy shit what idiots across the board!!   o-o  o-o  o-o (Uh, not this board of course ::))

TB

PS   I'd like to be the voice of reason and calmly say "everything will be all right", but it probably won't be.  How much worse and for how long it will last remains to be seen, but it will not be easy.

PPS And TP, I'm just thrilled you find this so funny.  I doubt everybody else shares your sense of humor.

I just saw Nancy Pelosi speak before the vote. I swear I think she wanted it to fail. I am very disappointed that this has turned into a political struggle. It's like I've been saying for years, they don't give a crap about me, you, or anyone else but themselves. These people are not what our founding fathers had in mind when this republic was founded. Does anyone have a link on the roll call today and how everyone voted? I just want to see how "my" elected officials voted. I don't know what the answer is, and phish may be right about his position on the bail out, but damn! Let's at least cut the water off even if everything is already flooded. Some stop gap measure shouldn't be all that hard to come up with. I'm not even going to look at my portfolio or IRA. I think I'll have a drink or 12 :P

TB-I don't really think anyone thinks this is funny.

Here's the link for how everybody voted:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml

And remember, both Obama and McCain are Senators and didn't vote.  Of course, they each had something to say prior to the vote.  To avoid partisan comments on my part, I'll leave your conclusions on the "help" each contributed, to you individually.

TB I realized that after I reread my post. I ain't kidding this has the potential for complete gridlock. I'm feeling more and more like a dumbass for not liquidating some of these assets months ago. I was waiting to see how the election went before I made any decision, but now it looks like it's too late :'(

TB,

The only people that are fucked are those living hand to mouth, and over extended on credit.
To bad for them I say, tough shit.

I am not about to pay for the mistakes of those people. We are not a socialist government, and should not help failing businesses. It sets a wrong precedent, that poor management can be bailed out by tax payers.

I managed my money, and so should congress and businesses.

I looked at it as cleaning out the old growth, and letting the new forest flourish.

TM,
Looks like you've posted on the econ stimulus bill. That's old press.

For the record, Heath Shuler who failed miserably as an NFL QB is also failing as a congressman by voting against the bailout along with Reps Butterfield, Coble, Jones, Foxx, McIntyre, Myrick, Hayes, and McHenry.
Apparently they want to play a role in the next great depression. All worthless fucks.  :j

We are a socialist government.  That door was opened a long time ago.  And if the bailout lives, it will be the beginning of the death of capitalisim in this country.  In 10 years we will be as irrelevant as France.

Ok, that video just pissed me off. I think some one should run for president as an independent with the slogan "Time to clean fu***ng house!" I am so tired of the cluelesness of the elected officials. I thought they were supposed to be our voice. I am tired of paying for so much and ending up with so little, and working my ass off to pay their salaries to screw everything up.
If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough.
