Big Spring Creek Lewistown Mt
twinbridges:
Doing a little side trip to Lewistown Mt. to fish the Big Spring Creek. Middle of the state and the drive out was to say the least large.
152 cfs spring at 52 degrees and a ph of 7.7. It deserves its reputation and I promise some pics in a few days. Gin clear water and rising trout. A hell of a hike to get here but look it up and if you get out this way it is worth some time.
Anyway, one of its freak show things is a bar built in 1911 on Main Street when they had put the best thing in town in a culvert put a hole in the floor so the proprietor could fish while he worked. A young woman who works in the Calvert Hotel said when she grew up they could fish in the bar and then someone floated down the river to the bar and stole the liquor so they sealed it up. I have pics and a damn 17 inch trout is down there eating bugs.
You can't make this stuff up.
Having a drink so I will be ready to get serious about fishing tomorrow.
AK Aaron:
Let us have a pic or two of the scenery on BSC. I've seen the fish but would like to see the water and whats around it. Something you can get by taking two steps away from the car and pointing the camera in any direction. Something that Harrison will try until his final days days trying to capture, I can almost see it now.
